Resolved Question:

Hello Last weekend when I got up suddenly I had white flashes, spots, around my peripheral vision. I stood still until these "flashes" went away. I do get opthamic migraines. What would cause this?

Hello there

How long did the symptoms last? did these all disappear? How is this different from your ophthalmic migraines?

Customer: replied 8 years ago.
I dont know how long this lasted. It seemed like a few minutes. My head felt a little whoozy, like little headache and the migraines seem like the light separates into fractions. This hasn't happened in a while though. The flashing lights seemed kinda diamond shaped, if that helps. Also, I seem to be sensitive to flourescent lights too.

Hello there LD1962

at first I thought you may be having flashing and floaters from retinal issues but with the additional info you provided, I think this is simply an ophthalmic migraine variant. This is not worrisome, and does not need follow up. If you get new floaters, dark spots in your vision, this may indeed be retina related and you need to be seen by an ophthalmologist, otherwise no follow up needed, Dr. Stevens
