You son is having eye flu or conjunctivitis or pink eye. He would need antibiotic eye drops after an examination by his doctor. In the meantime, keep the eye clean of discharge by wiping it regularly, you can use OTC eye drops like refresh tears/genteal/optive etc to decrease some irritation in his eyes, oral anti-histaminic like tylenol. All these measures will not cure his pink eye, but decrease the irritation to some extent.
