Hello rick
This is subconjunctival hemorrhage.
It is accumulation of blood under the conjunctiva due to rupture of small blood vessel.
It often occurs without any injury to eye, or it may be the result of a strong sneeze ,cough or vomitting .
It is common in people with high B.P,diabetes,on some blood thinners.
It's usually a harmless condition that disappears within 10 to 14 days.
You don't need any specific treatment for a subconjunctival hemorrhage.
You may have some scratchy feeling or foriegn body sensation .For this you can use some artificial tears drop.

See your doctor just to rule out that you are not having any serious bleeding problems.
