Entry Visa for Family Members of Citizens of the EU

​Short stay visa up to 90 days

VERY IMPORTANT: We cannot overstate the importance of paying the utmost attention to filling out the application and the accompanying information. INCOMPLETE OR INCORRECT APPLICATIONS WILL BE REJECTED, REQUIRING THE APPLICANT TO MAKE A NEW APPOINTMENT AT A LATER DATE.

- This visa may be issued to the families of citizens of the European Union, which, by their nationality, are subject to the visa requirement , provided accompaniment of the citizens of the; EU, EEA or Switzerland, or to meet with them.

- This visa may be applied for by the following family members:

a) Spouses and registered partners that hold a union similar to that of the spousal union registered in a public registry

• In the case of non-EU citizens married to Spanish citizens, in order to be able to apply for this type, they must prove the family ties by means of registering through the Spanish Civil Registry office.

• In the case of non-EU citizens married to EU citizens (non-Spanish), in order to be able to apply for this type, they must prove the family ties through the corresponding inscription through the Civil Registry of the Member State or by means of a certificate of the authorities of the latter in which it is clearly stated that said marriage is recognized as valid, according to its domestic legislation.

b) To the direct descendants under the age of 21, and those of the spouse or registered partner.

c) To the parents or their direct descendants older than 21 years, and those of the spouse or registered partner to whom lives under their charge.

DOCUMENTATION TO SUBMIT

1. Visa application form (Original and a Photocopy): The application form must be printed, filled out and signed.

2. One passport-type photo. (2x2 inches, white background)

3. A passport or official travel document (Original and a Photocopy). Passport should be no older than 10 years and be valid for a minimum of three months, counting from the expected date of return to the United States. Please make sure your passport has at least one blank page for the new visa.

4. US Resident Alien card or a valid U.S. long-term visa (Original and a Photocopy).

- Holders of B-1/B-2 visas cannot apply in the United States; they must apply in their own country of residence or country of origin.

- Applicants holding student visas must also submit their I-20 with the endorsement on the back, and copies of their F1 visa.

5. Round trip airline ticket reservation and itinerary printed. It is absolutely necessary to provide complete itineraries of your trip.

6. Original document that proves family ties, and in each case, the age and economic dependence.

• For applicant’s spouse: marriage certificate (Original and a Photocopy): For applicant’s children: birth certificate (Original and a Photocopy).

• If they are parents, documentation that proves that they live at the expense of the relative who gives the right to reunion (Original and a Photocopy).

7. Documentation attesting that the citizen of the European Union resides in Spain or is traveling to our country.

8. Documentation attesting to the will of the citizen of the European Union that the visa applicant goes with or meets with him/her.

9. Photocopy of the Passport, of the citizen of the Union with whom he/she is going to regroup.

10. Applicants who are under 18 years of age must submit a notarized authorization letter from their parents or legal guardians.

11. Disclaimer duly signed.

The Consulate Administration has full authority to evaluate and request more documents than those listed above. Please be informed that submitting the mentioned documents does NOT guarantee issuance of the visa. Documents presented for the visa application will not be returned.
