My aunt passed away and we buried her last Tuesday. She
My aunt passed away and we buried her last Tuesday. She lived under Medicaid in a nursing home for many years. II am her POA , have been writing her checks for payments and now need to know if I need an attorney. I have her will, POA documents. I called medicaid to see if I am still able to write the final checks for funeral costs, but they never answered. She only had clothing left that she wore, pictures, no belongings like furniture, etc. left. I sold all of that when she was in assisted living to pay costs until medicaid was vital. What is my next step to close a bank account? Only her social security checks were deposited and I paid the amount that medicaid stated to The Greens of Lyndhurst monthly. Where do the death certificates come from? Do I contact her doctor for this?. Thank you for your help. … read more
