Customer Question

My sister died on 7/10/16. Before her death I had durable power of attorney for finance. She signed for an apartment close to the hospital, 13 months starting in May 2016. I signed for her as she was in and out of the hospital frenquently. Her 37 yr old son who lived in apartment with her is now saying that I am responsible for the remaining rent. I have never signed anything that would make me liable. Plus, financial power of attorney ends at my sisters death. Please help!

I am sorry to hear of your sister's death, couples with the issue with her son.

Can you tell me:

1. is the son's name on the lease?
2. was the signature of an individual, or the signature of an agent -i.e. Joe Smith, by Jane Doe under POA”?
