My mother recently passed after suffering from Alzheimer's

Customer Question

My mother recently passed after suffering from Alzheimer's disease. During the last few years of Mom's life my sister had power of attorney and handled her bills and financial matters. There was a will that splits everything equally between my sister and I. After getting access to my Mom's banking account recently. I am suspicious that my sister may have taken out a life insurance policy on my Mom, paid for it from my Mom's checking account that my sister and I are both joint owners of made herself sole beneficiary of. Is this legal?

If your sister misused funds and engaged in self-dealing with purchasing a life insurance policy naming her as beneficiary with your mom's money.
