In Louisiana my father died in 2000 intestate. My mother died

Customer Question

In Louisiana my father died in 2000 intestate. My mother died 5/11/16 with a will leaving certain community property to each of their 5 children. No succession was ever done on my Father. Do the children receive outright what she left them or do each of us still own a part of our Fathers estate?

Hello and welcome! My name is ***** ***** I am a licensed attorney who will try my very best to help with your situation or get you to someone who can. There may be a slight delay in my responses as I research statutes or ordinances and type out an answer or reply, but rest assured, I am working on your question..If no one ever filed a succession case to settle father's estate, then that would have to be done so that his separate assets could legally be transferred to mother's estate and then it could be distributed according to mother's will. But they can both be settled at the same time...thnaksBarrister
