Mother loaned brother $70,000 to stop foreclosure on s

Customer Question

Mother loaned brother $70,000 to stop foreclosure on his house. She filed a lien against house. Mother and brother have now expired. His son is now selling house and son's probate attorney says lien is noncollectable. I was executor for my mother's estate.. This happened in 1992. Should I sign the waiver to release lien and forgive debt?

Did your mother have a judgment? Why does the attorney say the lien is uncollectable? When was the note due for repayment?
