My mom (whom is deceased), sold half of the land thousand

Customer Question

My mom (whom is deceased), sold half of the land for a thousand dollars. My stepdad (also deceased) signed the other half to me and my brother. The problem is the land wasn't deeded off and he says that we can't do anything up there. We have a house that was left to us and he says that he owns half of that. Its just 1 acre. How do we get our land back?

Do you have the original deed? Are you saying you did not get a deed from your step-dad? Who died first? Was the land held jointly with a right of survivorship?
