VerifiedYou would be looking for an estate law attorney, typically one who specializes in elder law as they are most familiar with creation of an irrevocable trust of the type needed to have your assets not considered in the calculation of your benefits. They will need to review all of your assets and potential income to determine the best specific trust to use to maximize your benefit potentials.

I am also a Massachusetts licensed Attorney. Your previous Expert properly answered your question based on the information that you have provided. You would need elder lawyer to assist you in planning your estate because elder lawyers are specialized in creating estates to help beneficiaries meet public assistance requirements. They are also current with laws regarding proper and legal ways to do "Medicaid planning." A financial planner would not be adequate in this regard.
