VerifiedIf she only had a life interest that ended at her death and the property now belongs to the remaindermen. Here it sounds like she may not be the proper recepient of the rent. You and your brother need to withdraw the money from the other accounts and split it. In order to deposit the check you are going to have to open probate and be named the personal representative. Then you can open an estate account and deposit the check.
In order to cash the checks you are going to have to open an estate account. In order to open an estate account you are going to need a letter of appointment from the probate court.
