I am a writer who hung out in 1972 and had numerous adventures

Resolved Question:

I am a writer who hung out in 1972 and had numerous adventures with Bob Dylan and I'm writing a book about it. Do I need permission to use one or two lines from Dylan's songs. How much would it cost to use more of the lyrics.

You will need permission as the song is copyrighted and you are not using it under fair use requirements (for an educational or scholarly purpose). The best way to do this is to contact his record label first (find information in any of the cds or Web site) and they will guide you to the correct person.

The prices for this may vary depending on what the owner of the copyright (may not be Dylan at this point) think it is worth.
