Erminia was recently voted New York City's most romantic Italian restaurant, and it just so happens to be in Manhattan!

If you'd like seafood American Caviar Russe is highly recommended. It's pricey, but has the caviar romance thing going on that you'll want. There webpage is here.
Upstairs 21 has a large wine selection and is very romantic and trendy. You'll have to look for the front door, as the entrance is hidden. (It's that trendy)
The Tocqueville is where many couples go to dinner right before the theater, so the atmosphere is very appropriate. If you go here try to request the glass walled mezzanine that overlooks the dining area. Very good food.

Knickerbocker has a turn of the century feel but is still romantic and known for excellent steaks. They have live jazz every Friday and Saturday night if you are going to be there on one of those days.
Rosie O'Grady's has excellent steaks (don't be fooled by the Irish Pub name)
A new steakhouse that is getting some good buzz is the Staghorn Steakhouse. They don't have a webpage yet but they are located at:
