Hi!My question is about thyroid...
Hi!My question is about thyroid function and hashimotos. After lots of testing, we figured out that I have hashimotos. However, my thyroid is showing up as totally "normal" meaning that my doctor feels I dont need to be on any medication for it. I am really confused since the symptoms i have are basically of hypothyroidism - hard to lose weight, fatigued, cold, etc.I do not really understand. But my doc said we just continue to monitor my thyroid and while it remains good, (2) that we dont have to worry about any thing else. But then how does my hashimotos go? how do i relieve the symptoms?thx

how old are you?

do you have the results of your blood testing

you need TSH levels and free T4 hormone levels to know your thyroid hormone levels

you need anti thyroid peroxidase and anti thyroid globulin antibodies to see if they are elevated which are elevated in patients who have hashimotos.

the anibodies with the anti thyroid globulin were elevated which is why i was diagnosed with hashimotos.from what i gathered, my tsh levels were about a 2 or somewhere less than that and the t4 levels were about 7
thoughts?

TSH level of 2 is normal.

hashimotos thyroiditis can be very unpredictable

one month your thyroid could make hormone

the next month it could make much less

you should get your TSH and free T4 levels checked again next month.

you should work on cutting out carbohydrates out of your diet

eat more protein and fruits and vegetables

and work on exercising more regularly which can help you build muscle

which can help you burn more calories.

you can do this even with hashimotos.

let me know if you have questions.

i do have some... is it all related to weight? is hashimotos?why can i not take medicine to improve hashimotos and change my diet?
Endocrinologist: Dr. David, Other replied 7 months ago

taking medications will not help your hashimotos

hashimotos is an autoimmune disease where your body's immune system is making antibodies sometimes which attack and inflame your thyroid gland

in some patients, their glands work fine, in others, it doesn't work well enough.

with your thyroid hormone levels, it seems like your thyroid hormone levels are normal for now

get them checked again in 1-2 months. they may not be normal at that point.
