Customer Question

Hello,
My mother recently had a viral infection that caused her liver tests to fail. Her SGPT is 50.9 and SGOT is 56 (last diagnosed on July 18). My mother is taking some Liver tablet to help with the recovery and is feeling better now. When should she go for her next diagnostic test to see if the SGOT and SGPT are improving? Is there a minimum timeframe she should wait before retaking the blood test?

Usually the repeat tests are advised after 2 weeks.

This is a mild rise and these in all likelihood would return to normal in this duration.

Please feel free for your follow up questions.

I would be happy to assist you further, if you need any more information.

I have a follow up on platelet count. Her number 1 month ago was 2,150,00. Yesterday it dropped to 1,660,00.
This drop in platelet was due to the viral infection she got a month ago. How much does platelet count vary? Is this a big drop?
THe cut off is 1,500,00. What can she do to get her platelets up more?
Expert:  drphophalia replied 2 months ago.

Platelets can vary and after any viral infection drop is quite common. You may repeat the count again in a week.

In all likelihood this would rise.
