Looking for employment law advice. Manager and HR. At will
Worked a part day Monday, got sick at work -violently vomiting. Company took part of my tools needed to do my job (work cell) as I was heading home to continue my vomit fest. Logged on remotely on Tuesday and let them know I was going in for emergency ultrasound (I had built up POT time to use). Was sent an email at 11:30 am stating they rescinded the ability to work remote. They stated I was not to return to work until I had an answer on illness and until I made prior arrangements with HR. Later in the day they sent Email demanding I return office keys, laptop, docking station and any other company property - but I was not terminated. The company just laid off 1/2 of the work force February 10-19th. I clearly communicated that I can do my job but would like them to know that I'm constantly nauseous and I will need various times available to attend diagnostic appointments (again, I have PTO time built up). I was instructed to return all of the company property yesterday and 1 hr later got notification that all of my PTO had been cashed out. I reached out inquiring as to the reason and 3 hrs later was sent an email saying they are chosing to part ways because I'm am sick. That seemed like a layoff to me - since the company just laid off 1/2 the work force. There were no employment issues, no performance issues, no disciplinary issues.Customer: Chat is completed… read more
