This answer was rated:

i've had a total shoulder replaced. Am I obligated to tell my employer specifically what I've had done or would a letter from my surgeon that states that I'll be under his care for 6 months suffice?
JA: Have you discussed this with a manager or HR? Or with a lawyer?
Customer: no. I've only discussed this with my manager.
JA: Are you an "at will" employee? Do you belong to a union?
Customer: yes I am an active union member currently employed wit a major airline using sick time that has accrued over the years which I'm entitled to.
JA: Anything else you want the lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: nothing that I can think of.

Hello: My name is ***** ***** I am an attorney.

Is your employer asking for specifics?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
the people or the dept. that takes care of attendance is requesting the info. Do they specifically need to know or can my surgeon write a letter stating that I'm under his care and will be released to return back to work at a specific time?
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
do not want to talk over the phone. can you respond to my question?

Yes. Hold, please.

You just need to supply a letter. You do not need to go into specifics - just enough to show that you need time for recovery and need to use the sick days.

We can discuss this more if you want to do so.

If you have further questions or you need further assistance, just let me know.

If not, please remember to rate my answer between 3 to 5 stars without any additional costs to you. That is how I get credit for answering your question. Best regards.
