I discussed what occurred with my over the road trainer, who fell asleep as he was supposed to be training me to drive, specificlly we had a load to take from Liberal, KS to Oakland, CA. As a beginning employee, we're only allowed to drive 4 hrs. I drove 7 1/2 hours one day, and drove the entire shift 10 1/2 hrs the next day, thus bringing us into California. I ended up getting a speed ticket because of his misguidance. I reported the unsafety practices that the trainer had including, sleeping while training, driving while hving chest pains, manipulating the electronic logs. The officer cited him, but gave him no ticket for being logged OFF DUTY while he was in the passenger's seat training. I got pics of him with his cell phone in his hand. The company was aware and haave all my pics of everything, including his statement that he did fall asleep while i was being ticketed. The company suspended me yesterday. Meanwhile, they sent him back over the road with a load and he is currently driving now. I want to know what recourse do I have? I feel like I was unjustly "suspended". He got to continue working.
