I am contacting you from the state of California. I am a teacher. I sent my supervisor an email on Friday regarding two concerns. One of them may eventually require assistance from an attorney. I shared with him my concern about workplace bullying. Some employees have spread some career-altering lies about me. Specifically, there seems to be a suggestion that I am somehow a threat to female employees on campus. I was told when I transferred to this campus that I would always have classroom support, i.e. another adult in the room with me to assist with the management/discipline of the students. For virtually, the entire year, this has not happened. As a matter of fact, female employees avoid my classroom altogether. They enter in pair only, and when they do, they avoid me, and do not address or acknowledge that I am in the room at all. They enter the room together, talk briefly to students and leave. The turnover rate among support staff is quite high and I often do not know who these people are. Last week, I was scheduled to receive a short one-to-one training from a person (female) in my classroom. The trainer, was not a district employee, so I wondered how the situation was going to be handled by the office -- The trainer and I met in my classroom, and during our meeting, one of the support staff passed through the room. This was strange behavior for her or any of the support staff, because the room in which I am assigned is relatively isolated and there is no logical reason for her to enter the room at all, especially since there were not students scheduled to be in the room at all, which she knew. I am expecting that when I return to work tomorrow, the principal will respond to the bullying via lies charge. I am contacting you because I am concerned about how this developing situation is already affecting my career, in and beyond this school district. I applied for a teaching position at another district in December 2016. I was interviewed and offer a job on the same day. In January 2017, I contacted HR in the (hiring) district to remind them that the written job offer they gave me was expiring soon. The HR person instructed me not to worrying about, the offer can always to extended. She wished me a happy holiday and asked me to contact her when I am ready to begin the hiring process.
