I am potentially looking for an attorney to look over a severance package. I was just laid off last week, and unhappy with the amount of severance. I'm not sure if there is any hope or point in contesting it.

Customer: Yes, I talked with HR on the phone and expressed my displeasure. She checked with management and came back with something like "this is the formula/standard and they are not going to stray from that.
JA: Is the employment agreement "at will
," union, full time or part time?
Customer: full time
JA: Anything else you want the lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: I received 1 year for each year of service, which was almost 14 years. I also got 2 weeks in lieu of a 2 week notice. This is the same, they say, for both individual contributors and managers. I am a manager and had been told that managers got 2 weeks/year, which is why I asked.
