I was fired on the first day after my 90 day period, the day

Customer Question

I was fired on the first day after my 90 day period, the day that we had verbally agreed in my offer meeting that my salary would increase by $5,000/year. The reason being "sales have been low the last two months." I was not led to believe this would be a temporary position-I was being trained to grow into a higher position. I did not commit any integral error while working, although I did expose the poor job the family members of the owner and CFO working within my same department had being doing, and had since been dealing with a hostile environment that I could not report, due to the fact they were all family and the repercussions would be on me. Is this wrongful termination?

Hi, thanks for submitting your question today. My name is John. I have over 13 years of legal and consulting experience in this area. I’m happy to assist you with your question today. I'm sorry to hear about your job loss.I'll need to ask you some preliminary questions before I can give you an answer to your question. Are you in a union or do you otherwise have a contract for "just cause" (as opposed to “at will" employment which is the default employment condition)? Do you think the manager who terminated you had an ulterior motive in terminating you, perhaps your age, race, gender, disability or religious beliefs? Did you report ay potentially illegal behavior of these other family members to a government agency?
