I am going out of the country for two weeks. How can I set up a message that automatically tells anyone who emails me that I will be away?

Technician's Assistant: Who is your email provider (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.)?

A university site: iit.edu

Technician's Assistant: How do you usually access your email? On a phone or tablet, or through a web browser?

Thunderbird is in the dock on my Imac.

It isn't possible to set up a vacation response directly through Thunderbird because it has no simple way to communicate to the mail server that the server should issue vacation responses, as most mail servers have not adopted the appropriate protocols.

However you should be able to log onto your university webmail and set up a vacation or "out of office" response there.
