Thunderbird stopped getting into...

Thunderbird stopped getting into my inbox. It gives a message that says "the current operation inbox did not succeed-the mail server for the account***@******.*** responded: [clientbug} SELECT command not valid in this state. I've never seen this before. I was about ot uninstall thunderbird and try reinstalling it and setting it up again but I thought I'd try you first.

Technician's Assistant: How's your internet connection? Are you checking your email from a browser or a mail client (e.g. Outlook)?

It is awesome.

Technician's Assistant: Are there any antivirus or firewall settings that could block you from receiving mail?

Nothing that I changed recently.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Email Expert to know before I connect you?

thunderbird logs in, it doesn't open inbox though, it says looking for folders, then gives that error message.

  1. Open TB, right click your email account (above its Inbox folder on the left panel), choose "Configurations"
  2. Choose Settings
  3. Choose "Server" on the left pane and DELETE THE part of the username after @ on the right side pane. Disregard the popup saying you might need to change the email address
  4. Save changes
  5. Restart Thunderbird
  6. Let me know if this resolves the issue
