Hi Pearl, I just created a gmail account on my MAC. I wanted to install google photo app. If I understand I have to do this direclty on my phone.

Technician's Assistant: How do you usually access Gmail? On a phone or tablet, or through a web browser?

- went to phone

Technician's Assistant: What troubleshooting have you tried?

- at google site, entered in google photo app ready to download; but the google is using my optonline.net email; doesnt' it have to be my gmail account for mail

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Email Expert to know before I connect you?

This is the answer to your first question. I was not trying to backup/sunc phontos from mac to phone; just installing google photo on my iphone.
Yes; but I created the gmail account on the MAC first. Then I went to my phone to continue and google app and phone have
my optonline.net mail account. does this matter

I see; the email address should not matter - Google accounts can be created with any email address and not just Gmail. Have you already downloaded/installed the Photos app on your phone now?

Now, the email address should not matter - Google accounts can be created with any email address and not just Gmail. So if you are being prompted to install Google Photos with the optonline.net address, just go ahead with the prompts - it simply means that you already have a GOOGLE account with the same optonline.net address.

Yes, that's perfectly fine. Basically, other than your Gmail account, another Google account is set up for***@******.*** that your phone uses. This Google account will stay separate from your email account itself (even if they both use the same email address.)

Also, you do not need to change anything for the Gmail account - it will stay completely separate from the other Google account itself.

Follow the on-screen prompts to reset and create a new password ***** either one of your Google accounts.

Done that, try using the new password ***** the Photos app. What happens?

Csn you follow this thread. I thought I had this done right. I cannot enter in information that Google is asking for. I am verifying every typo to be sure I am using the same user name I entered on theMAc when I created the account. Now it says "try again" the only thing I changed was the dashes between the phone #(###) ###-####or the gmail account with and/or without the extension @gmail com. Still getting error msgL Try again

Could you please tell me what are my two google mail accounts: Is that the opt online.net and the new google account from today>? Or do I have two google accounts which do not show up anywhere on my accounts on my Iphone, iPad or MAC? I cannot reset password ***** a username I have no record of since I must have done this a long time ago. I am complicating this 10-15 minute session into over an hour ago. Thank you again. I will work with the gmail account that is***@******.*** and hopefully I will be able to find you later with a success story. Again thanks for all of your time and effort. I know I just missed your call; tried to call back; but, I do not use facetime even though it is on ,\my MAC. I cut you off accidentally. That is why I attempted to return call; but like most (help desk) systems I probably would not have gotten you directly. Again increasing the odds of more confusion. I went from one dialog box to another and got in this situation. Now I must really stop. All of this for an easy to install app? I will contact Apple; hopefully sometime tonight; but I really don't have all this time to spare. I am sure you are about to surrender if not head out the door after a very long day. Why this went from mail accounts to Apple accounts -
