Yesterday I joined gmail, received a welcome message from Google. Since then I have not received a message from my son or a confirmation from a catalog order.

Technician's Assistant: How's your internet connection? Are you checking Gmail from a browser or a mail client (e.g. Outlook)?

My isp is PocketiNet and seems to be ok for everything else. I'm checking email from internet explorer which displays Google
