When sending messages, or...

When sending messages, or replying to messages, I will frequently get this message: "An error occurred while sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: 4.3.4 allocated resources exceeded. "

Technician's Assistant: Who is your email provider (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.)?

Embarqmail (Centurylink), I do not run into the problem with gmail. I am using Thunderbird 52.4.0 (32 bit) and run into the problem with both Windows 7 and Windows 10.

Technician's Assistant: How do you usually access Gmail? On a phone or tablet, or through a web browser?

Desktop (Windows 7) and Laptop (Windows 10).

Technician's Assistant: What troubleshooting have you tried?

Just repeated attempts to send the email. It is placed in the "Sent" file as if it went out. Sometimes, after 2 or 3 attempts it will go out OK. Sometimes I have to "forward" the email to get it to go out. I will frequently restart Thunderbird, or reboot the computer.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Email Expert to know before I connect you?

The name of the outgoing server is smtp.embarqmail.com:587

Okay, i dont have any more suggestions - I will opt out and open the question to other experts. When an expert responds, you will be notified here. I am not sure when an expert will respond, because this depends on the expert's understanding of the issue.

Try removing the account and putting it back in

Try it with sls or tls or none

It's kind of a trial and error thing if they don't give clear instructions

And they really don't
