When I try to send an email, a message box comes up that says my certificate expired in November

I guess Thunderbird

I do both on Ipad and on my computer, but I haven't checked my i pad

In this case, you can do the following.

A. When you get this message, please find an option to delete this expired certificate.

B. Update both Thunderbird and Firefox to latest version.

C. Try re-adding the exception using the Advanced button.

Add Exception button approach, you need to first remove the stored HSTS flag.

Please follow the steps shown under the link: Click Me
