It was from sprint

Ok, your only hope of getting this account back, is to call sprint and ask for the same exact phone number. If they will let you activate on a prepaid phone or a cheap plan. Then you can get this yahoo account back

Otherwise, the account is security locked and your going to have to make a new one. Im sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but thats the case.
