  1. Click on Account Settings
  2. Click on Server Settings
  3. Click on Security Settings
  4. Change the "Authentication Method" to any other option than what is selected
  5. Close Thunderbird and re-open. Please note it will not be working yet
  6. Next , go back to Security Settings
  7. Change "Authentication Method" back to "Plain Password"
  8. Close Thunderbird and open it again.
  9. It should now be working

  1. Sign into Yahoo online
  2. Click the Settings icon (it looks like a Gear)
  3. Enable "Allow Less Secure Apps"
  4. Go to "Account Security" on the Yahoo website
  5. Click "Manage App Passwords"
  6. Click "Select You app"
  7. Select "Other Apps" from the list
  8. Make a name for the app (ie. "Thunderbird")
  9. Click "Generate"
  10. Write this password ***** it will not be displayed again.
  11. Open Thunderbird
  12. Open Tools
  13. Open Options
  14. Open Security
  15. Open Passwords
  16. Delete the Yahoo account password
  17. Close Thunderbird
  18. Re-open the program
  19. Put the password ***** generated in when it asks you for your password *****

Let me know if this works
