When I click on message to open my emails, I get error

When I click on message to open my emails, I get error message: RETR commend did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server inbound .att.net responded: problem retrieving message.
JA: Just to clarify, how often have you been getting this particular message?
Customer: only started a couple of hours ago. retried several times. same message
JA: How do you access your email most often? On a phone or tablet, or through a web browser?
Customer: from my computer I click en the email icon
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I called at&t they said it's a thunderbird problem that I need to contact you
JA: Anything else you want the email expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: That's all I need. thank you

This error is almost always caused by a corrupted email.

Sign in to your AT&T webmail: https://att.yahoo.com/

and delete everything in the spam/junk and deleted items folder.

Open Thunderbird and see if you get the same error.

If you're still getting the error. Close and re-open Thunderbird and at the bottom of the T-Bird page

on the left side let me know how many emails it is trying to download.
