For about a week I keep getting an e-mail ops #500 error

For about a week I keep getting an e-mail ops #500 error when I'm trying to delete e-mails from inbox, from all mail and from trash. The system seems to freeze. This has never happened before so how can I fix. Florence
JA: Just to clarify, what email service provider are you using?
Customer: I believe I'm using google.
JA: How do you access your email most often? On a phone or tablet, or through a web browser?
Customer: I have no problem accessing and deleting on my phone only on my computer.
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I haven't not very tech savy.
JA: Anything else you want the email expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No I'm just so frustrated and also I encountered this error when I tried to send several e-mails out this week.
