Microsoft was offering a free Windows 10 upgrade via AOL

Customer Question

Microsoft was offering a free Windows 10 upgrade via AOL over the past umpteen months; I've heard that Windows 7 is/will no longer be supported & ignored the messages until yesterday. Yesterday I caved & downloaded the initial upgrade, but put off the install til 8:00 last night, then panicked as I realized what Windows 10 was like. I went into my Control Panel & changed the settings so that I had to approve upgrades before they can be installed so that the auto install could not run, but now my other updates can't run as well. How can I get rid of the Windows 10 install altogether? I don't want it, but I don't know how to get rid of it! Thx.

To confirm you're still on Windows 7?

Expert:  Cody replied 1 year ago.

Go to the start menu --> control panel --> add/remove programs --> view installed updates

Here uninstall KB3035583

Then check for Windows updates and hide the above update so it doesn't get downloaded again.
