Hi there and welcome

you still have access to the computer with outlook 2000 correct Gary?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
This window keeps disappearing??
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Are you still there?
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

Yes, 1 minute please as I type up the instructions

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

ok, then in outlook 2000 do the following please to export the contacts to a file

  1. On the File menu, click Import and Export.
  2. In the Import/Export Wizard, click Export to a file, and then click Next.
  3. In the Export to a file dialog box, click Comma Separated Values (Windows) and then click Next.
  4. When you are prompted to Select a folder to export from, click the same folder that you used when you imported your personal address book, and then click Next.
  5. When you are prompted to Save exported file as, type the location of your personal address book, or click Browse to search for your personal address book, click OK, and then click Next.
  6. Click to select the The following actions will be performed check box, and then click Finish.

Then copy the file to the computer with outlook 2016

  1. Click File > Open & Export > Import/Export.

This starts the Import and Export Wizard.

  2. Choose Import from another program or file and then click Next.

  3. Choose Comma Separated Values and click Next.

  4. Browse to the .csv file you want to import.

  5. Under Options, choose whether to replace duplicates (existing contacts), create duplicate contacts, or not import duplicates.

  6. Click Next and choose the destination folder for your contacts. Contacts should be selected by default, but if it's not, scroll up or down until you find it. You can also choose a different folder, or create a new one.

  7. Click Next.

  8. Make sure the check box next to Import "*.csv" (your file) is selected.

Then once imported the contacts will then appear in outlook 2016

I can also do these steps for you, and have made a request via Additional Services. This is optional, and if you choose to do this, I can, with your permission, remote into your computer while you watch and do all these steps (and deal with any problems that arise during them) for you. Or if you do not choose to take this service, we can continue here. This is no problem at all. Just let me know please.

Else let me know the results please

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
it would be $30 plus an additional $30 for the remote?
Also as far as I know I only have the outlook.pst file. I've never imported any contacts before?
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

yes but it is optional else you do the instructions I gave you please.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
OK I will try the instructions. How do I get back to this window when I finish trying?
And let you know it worked or ask further info?
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

The pst file was the wrong one, it was only 5K in size?? Then looking for another pst file, Old Computer crashed and now won't start. Working on getting it running.
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

ok, except it is a CSV file, not pst per the instructions I gave.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
pst was the Outlook 2000 file.
When I did the export it asked for the file and I selected contacts from the list of folders.
It gave me a message I needed a file from the office 2000 pro Disk.
I found it and it installed the file. Then when I tried to export the contact folder it started to download and then froze.
When I rebooted windows xp wouldn't start? Trying to do a safe mode boot but not working.
Will keep trying

Dell said I have a bad Hard Drive.
Shop said they Might be able to get some files off the Hard Disk but no guarantee.
So next week I'll see how much they want to try and retrieve some files.
So, do you close this session? Do I start a new one if I can get the pst off the hard drive? Or do I access you again????
Do I owe anything for your time so far? Thanks,
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Since I don't have a running computer, You cant help me.
I'll have to input my contacts into the new computer manually as it would be cost prohibitive to try to get the files off the bad hard drive. Sorry it didn't work out.
