All my email received 5/7 and before and listed in my inbox suddenly shows the message as code or simply seems to have lost content. What happened? How do I fix?

Please follow the steps to reset your profile there.
STEP 1
Close Mozilla Thunderbird.
STEP 2
Type “%APPDATA%" at the Start screen and click “OK.”
STEP 3
Double-click the “Thunderbird” folder, followed by “Profiles.”
STEP 4
Delete the folder contained inside the “Profiles” folder.
STEP 5
Re-open Thunderbird to restore defaults.
OS X
STEP 1
Close Thunderbird.
STEP 2
Click anywhere on the background of your screen, then open a Finder window by pressing the "Command" key and the "Up" cursor key at the same time.
STEP 3
Browse to the “/Library/Thunderbird/” folder.
STEP 4
Open the “Profiles” folder. Delete the user folder inside.
STEP 5
Re-open Thunderbird.
