I reset it in Internet options
Hotmail opens up in chrome, safari

Sorry, it's strange. Can you reset the hosts file:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034then can you try:1. In your Hotmail email , click Options, and then More options. 2. Under Customizing Hotmail, click Flagging. (or just click on the link https://snt117.mail.live.com/mail/pinningpreferences.aspx?n=468022864) 3. Then select "Don't show flagged messages at the top of the inbox". 4. Click Save.

If it still does not work, does your hotmail email account work with Internet Explorer on another computer if you have? Do you have windows xp, vista, or 7?
Still does not work. Yes it works on my old laptop which runs Vista. This problem only occurred the other day. It had been working fine up until then. Also windows live mail will not open, gives an error message (0x80041161) if that is any help
Sorry, can you click Start->All programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore and restore the computer to any date before this issue has occurred?
No option for system restore in system tools menu and the link in control panel does not work either.

Sorry I have to go out for a while, haven't got the time right now. Seems to be a deep rooted problem, my guess would be an update or something. I will try and get a windows update when i get back to see if that will fix it, I don't understand why it works perfectly on my old laptop and ipad. I can access my email on my ipad for the time being. If you come up with a solution in the meantime i will check my mails when i get back
