Hi there, my name is Cam & I’m a camera expert here with JustAnswer. I just came across your issue and want to help you try to find a solution!
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Ok
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
Can you begin by telling me what smartphone you’re trying to connect with your Nikon?
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
IPhone X
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
So in your Nikon menu, there should be 3 settings related to this: Bluetooth, WIFI, and Send to a Smart Device. Do you see all 3?
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
No wifi
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
Can you locate the other two options I mentioned?
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
I do not see them
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
I find send to a smart device and blue tooth but no WiFi
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
Are you using a Nikon Coolpix S6400? or a Nikon D6400?
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Nikon D6400
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
Based on my research, there is no camera from Nikon called a D6400. Can you please provide me with a link to show me the exact camera you’re using?
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Sorry D3400
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
Ah okay, thank you for clarifying
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
The thing is, there has to be a Bluetooth option somewhere in your settings. Can you please check again for me and check thoroughly? I know there are a lot of settings but it has to be there
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
It is but is is not working. See in the picture how it is in lower light
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
It says Bluetooth off
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
Is it off & greyed out?
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Yes
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
Ok please give me a few minutes to look up some information on this for you.
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Ok thanks
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
Try this for me:

The fix is in the SnapBridge app.
From within the app, you need to "add camera"
Once you do that, the bluetooth selection on the camera will light up, and all should work.
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
The issue seems to be that your iPhone is too advanced for the older bluetooth tech on your D3400
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
The add camera does not work, it just spins and spins. It was spinning for about 15 min before I contacted you
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
What about on your camera settings, can you see an option near bluetooth that says something like “connect to smart device” or something similar?
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
I did use the connect to smart device and does not work either. I think you are correct and the Bluetooth in my phone is too new. I might just have to use the

memory card
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
And download the software in my computer but I liked the auto download to my phone for immediate backup and easy sharing
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
Unfortunately I think this is correct. Also these apps produced by all camera makers are always really bad, they almost seem to create them just to say they have something but they never work practically or when you really need them. I never use mine on my Nikon unless there is a random time where I need a remote shutter.
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
It was a nice way to get fast and easy access as well as sharing. No worries. Thank you for trying, it makes me feel good that I did not miss anything
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
Nope, not your fault at all! Best of luck and have a great rest of your weekend!
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
You too, I gave you a "5 excellent" rating.
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
I appreciate that a lot, I work hard to help people from a far so anytime somebody appreciate that, it means a lot. Thanks so much!
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Thank you. Good night
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
I am also going to try my old phone. Maybe that would do the trick.
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
I hope you have better luck with the old phone!
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
I did not. I tried and the Bluetooth is not turning on
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Bluetooth is not
Turning on in the Nikon D3400
Expert:  Cameron replied 15 days ago.
That’s unfortunate, this app just really doesn’t want to connect to your camera in general. Like I said earlier, this app isn’t really one to rely on much.
