I have an AUtocad...

I have an AUtocad program 2015. it requires .net framework 4.5 to run but my machine is 4.7.. and I am unable to install it. All help from the software company is blocked by my machine even under administrator. Can you suggest a way round this? Thanks.

May I ask why it is that you are unable to install .Net Framework 4.5? When you attempt to do so, what occurs?

That is okay. You can install multiple versions of .Net Framework.

OK, then, you will need to update or acquire the .NET Framework ver. 4.5 for Windows 8.1 (64-bit edition presumably.)

That can be acquired from this Microsoft site, to download, then to install:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42642

and click on the red DOWNLOAD button on that page.

Download the 66-odd MB sized install package. Save it to disk. Look for it in your Downloads folder (or wherever you saved it to.) Its name should be something like

NDP452-[etc., etc., etc.]

Double-click on it to run it.

Your PC may have to be restarted after that.

Let me know how it goes, with regard to your AutoCAD program, after you restart your PC in order to fully load the new .NET Framework.

NET Framework 4.5.2 or a later update is already installed on this computer. And it will not allow installation.

Tell me, exactly, and in full, what error message the AutoCAD program throws at you, and exactly when (in the process of booting up the computer, or when you double-click or click on the icon to start the program, or after the AutoCAD program window shows up, or after you try one function or action in the program... that would help a lot, with my giving you the right answer that will fix the problem.

It gets to the first level installation and stops, saying that it can't install the program because .net framework 4.5 is not installed. I note that 4.7-- is installed

Uninstall 4.7.

Restart.

Install 4.5... see if it accepts that.

Then see after restarting once again, whether AutoCAD can install.

(What version exactly of AutoCAD are you trying to install? from a CD, or from a download?)

I downloaded from a software company and it unpacked to that location. the instal was the problem

Try this:

find the Windows Features and in it you will see something like this:

and try un-checking that checkbox.

Then restart the computer.

Then try installing AutoCAD.

I uncheck the features box, and try and instal the 4.5 and it tells me that 4.5 is already installed.

OK... try un-checking the box for 4.7 in Windows Features.

Then, try un-installing 4.7

Then, restart your computer.

Then, try installing AutoCAD... if it fails with the 4.5 message, then try installing 4.5... this may work, it may not. Let me know how it goes, please.

If the above does not work, then running an SFC on the computer might be advisable before trying to install AutoCAD again:

- open a Command Prompt

enter this command in it:

SFC /SCANNOW

where 'scannow' is all one word. Then press RETURN on your keyboard, and let it run... it will take some time, but after it has completed its run, restart your computer again, and see whether that fixes the AutoCAD install problem.
