Hello & Welcome to Just Answer,

I'm Greg and will do my best to assist with this issue today.

Sorry to hear of any issue with your phones.

To help you with this issue, may I ask:

1) What landline phone service provider (phone company) you have for this phone line?

2) Do you have ANY other devices/phones (NOT part of the Panasonic system) attached to this same phone line and if so, are they working properly (allow you to dial out)?

Please REPLY using the box below and the SEND button.
*** IMPORTANT NOTE: *** ANY requests for "additional services" (such as a phone call) are OPTIONAL and sent BY THE SITE AUTOMATICALLY (and not me), and I am NOT available by phone at the moment.
Please DECLINE (close) any such offers, and continue in this text/chat form.

Thanks

ignoring popups
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

OK - can you do a quick TEST for me?

That TEST is to pick up ANY of the Panasonic cordless phones, press the SPEAKER button, and see if you hear a CLEAR dial tone, or perhaps some beeps before the clear dial tone.

Thanks

hear a very clear dialtone
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

OK - very good.

Now, please do the same process (press SPEAKER), WAIT for the dial tone, and then SLOWLY dial a LOCAL number, and let me know what you hear as you dial (if and when the BUSY appears).

Thanks

Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

Hi again,

We experts are "users" of this site - just like you - and have no access to ANY of your private information or account - including any billing.

If you have ANY concerns about your account or site operation, You can contact the Customer Service department at the following page:

sorry thanks
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

I have a NEXT STEP - to TEST what I believe MAY be happening.

NEXT STEP: Do as before (press SPEAKER, WAIT for clear dial tone),

BUT this time BEFORE dialing the LOCAL number, press the * key, and then dial the number slowly, and let me know if the call goes through.

Thanks

get an immediate busy signal
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

OK - that's interesting.

Can you tell me if you can HEAR the "touch tone" when dialing the FIRST number, or a series of "clicks" - corresponding the number key?

Ask Your Own Consumer Electronics Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
as soon as i hit* i start hearing a constant buzzing dial tone no clicks
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

Constant "buzzing" ... interesting.

Is this AT&T phone service a "standard WIRED" service, or is it U-verse based?

Ask Your Own Consumer Electronics Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
it is a wire service the buzz is the dial tone
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
not sure what u verse is
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

Thanks for that.

OK - I would like to CHECK a "setting" of the Panasonic system.

If you can, please pick up on of the handsets - while NOT on a call, and press the following keys (and NOT the SPEAKER or TALK button).

Press MENU, then # 1 2 0 (pound-one-two-zero).

Let me know what you see on the screen at that time, and what happens when pushing the UP or DOWN arrows.

Thanks

it says tone or pulse
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

OK - if you can, use the arrow key to HIGHLIGHT "TONE", and then press the SAVE soft key (button below the word SAVE).

Then press the OFF key - to exit the programming.

Let me know if you hear a "confirmation beep" when pressing the SAVE.

Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

OK - now try dial a local number - as before - but do NOT use the * key as the first key press.

Let me know what is heard

the dial tone stays on a sec and then i get busy signal
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

OK - interesting.

Would it be possible to MOVE the main base unit of the Panasonic system to the other phone jack - where the OTHER working phone is connected?

I only ask because this may affect the dialing of the Panasonic.

And if you want to, you can also MOVE the OTHER phone to the phone jack where the Panasonic base unit is connected - which will also TEST in another way.

Let me know if you can do this test.

Thanks

the other phone is a wall mount cant move when i set the tone on the menu i get a message asking to set dial mode
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

OK - as an alternative to MOVING the Panasonic base, let me know if you can do a "short reset" of the Panasonic base unit.

That is done by

- removing any handset that is sitting on the base

- remove the phone cord from the base and phone jack (in the wall).

- remove the AC power adapter from the base AND the AC outlet.

LEAVE ALL CORDS DISCONNECTED for at least FIVE MINUTES.

After the wait, reconnect ALL CORDS & AC power adapter.

After the RESET - try an new TEST CALL - to see if it will dial out.

Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

Hmm ... interesting.

May I ask if you have tried OTHER CORDLESS handsets of the Panasonic system - and have the same results?

have had several cordless and now this panasonic first time this has happeneed receives calls just get busy when dialing out has been working great
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

I understand.

But have you tried dialing from a DIFFERENT cordless HANDSET - of the Panasonic system - today - since this started to happen?

Ask Your Own Consumer Electronics Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
have dialed from 3 other handsets
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

Have you SUCCESSFULLY dialed from the other handsets?

Ask Your Own Consumer Electronics Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
all 3 do the same thing after dialing they get a dial tone and then a busy signal have only been able to dial out on att wall mount
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

Hmm ... OK may I ask the AGE of this Panasonic system?

And would you be willing to try a FULL reset of the system?

That take a bit longer (about 15 minutes), and includes removing the batteries from ALL of the cordless handsets.

Basically the same as the short reset - where removing power and phone cord from the main base, but this time leave everything disconnected for AT LEAST 15 minutes (including batteries from handsets), then restore all to original state.

Let me know if you can try that FULL reset.

Ask Your Own Consumer Electronics Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
do they use standard aa batteries unit is maybe 2 years old
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
do i use the same batteries or new
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

No - cordless handsets use RECHARGEABLE batteries, and they should be OK - at least for now.

Ask Your Own Consumer Electronics Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
ok will take all batteries out
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

Very good.

If it was not clear, just take the batteries out of ALL handsets - and leave them out during the 15 minute wait - and then put the same batteries back in at the end of the process.

Thanks

batteries out at 145 pm
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

OK - I will look for your results in about 15-20 minutes.

NOTE: You may want to check the "Tone/Pulse" setting again - after the reset.

That was the MENU, then # 1 2 0 (pound-one-two-zero) steps - to check or change the setting.

Ask Your Own Consumer Electronics Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
sorry to say everything same as before
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

Hmm ...

I would REALLY like to TEST that phone - at another phone jack or even at a different location with a different phone service.

So do you have another WORKING phone jack at your location - perhaps in a separate living area?

That would be separate from the working "wall phone" you mentioned.

Thanks

OK - Just press the OFF button - to exit programming.

Ask Your Own Consumer Electronics Question
Electronics Technician: Greg A., Engineer replied 4 months ago

OK - I would like to TEST the Main base unit (and one handset) at a different service location, BUT with all the TESTING we have done, it "sounds like" the base unit if the system may have failed.

These types of failure typically happen as a result of power spikes - such as can happen with lightning storms or other power related issues.

If you would like to keep using the handsets you already have, what I would recommend is getting a NEW base unit - with the least amount of handset available (2 is typical), and then MOVING the old handsets to the new base unit. This is done by de-registering from the OLD base, and then registering them to the NEW base.

If you need a reference, you can still get a KX-TGE232 system via online shops - such as Amazon. I have the search results for one such system below.

Click Here for search Results --> http://amzn.to/2ij6Xfk

Please let me know what you find or if you have any more questions about this system or the TESTING we did.

If this has helped answer your question(s), please take a moment to rate MY service level (5-star is my goal) so that I get credit for my time helping you with this question.
You should see some "stars" (and SUBMIT button) to do that, but please let me know if you do NOT see them (you may have to REFRESH your screen) or can not use them.

Thanks, ***** *****
