When answering phone, cannot...

When answering phone, cannot hear caller. They can hear me. Can dial out but cannot hear the party answer nor sometimes can they hear me.

Technician's Assistant: How old is the phone?

Brand new. Just hooked up yesterday and waited for charging to be done. The phone does ring, but cannot hear the party calling. What did I do wrong?

Technician's Assistant: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?

Tried reconnecting the base unit and the telephone wire to phone outlet.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Electronics Expert to know before I connect you?

Don't understand some directions when telling you to go to menu (no) and the number in () is different for each direction. Does that mean anything? Also on screen there is an arrow going backwards. What does that mean?

1) The FULL Model Number of the phone system you are working with? If this is a cordless system, that model should be printed on a sticker on the bottom or back of the MAIN base station (or outside of package).

2) What landline phone service provider (phone company) you have for this phone line?

3) Do you have ANY other devices/phones (NOT part of the new system) attached to this same phone line and if so, are they working properly?
