I am looking for a part for the Sony ICF-4900 collectors

Customer Question

I am looking for a part for the Sony ICF-4900 collectors radio.
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: The part is the volume board for the Sony ICF-4900 FM/MW/SW 9 band receiver. This is an old classic analog small portable receiver.
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Volume control does not work. The small volume board is replaceable.
JA: Anything else you want the electronics expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: If the original part is not available is there a substitute volume or would one have to replace the variable resistor in board?

These volume boards are no longer manufactured, nor is there a suitable substitute.

Your best option would be to get the existing board repaired, by replacing the varistor if that is the part that has failed.
