Customer Question

We have a Sony Bravia 55" TV.
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: It will not stay on the correct input. After 3 or so minutes it will switch back to the first input at the top of the screen.
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: It started last night. I will be watching the TV for 5 or so minutes and then it will switch back to the first input. I tried going to other inputs with other pieces of equipment but with the same result. The picture if fine when on the proper input.
JA: Anything else you want the electronics expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No

Can you please send me a reply when you are ready to proceed ?
By the way , Pearl that greeted you is a computer so never mind the odd questions .

Sorry , got locked on other posts while waiting for your reply

Expert:  Jack replied 7 months ago.

Is there anything connected into that input where it switches to ?

Which input is it anyway ?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
The first input on the TV is" TV" but we have cable. The cable input is the second input HDMI 1.
Expert:  Jack replied 7 months ago.

O.k then that's too bad because the TV input is the only one that cannot be turned off

Give me a few minutes please

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
When I switch to second input it views correctly for a few minutes then switches back to first input by itself.

Now there are two things to try here ;

One is a factory reset but your tv will be like out of the box and any specific settings you had will have to be redone

Second is a firmware upgrade , so I will give you 2 links for either

Expert:  Jack replied 7 months ago.

This actually a video that shows you the factory reset , same thing for your model ;

And on this page you will find the firmware update at the top of the page along with other info ;

Give it a try

If none of that does it then this does not look good for your TV's main board

If that answers your questions for now then PLEASE DO TAKE THE TIME TO RATE , it does not close this post , you can come back at any time without additional charges if you have further questions and it gets this independent tech. paid for his time helping you .
