I am the person that will be helping you today.

May I ask when was the last time that you replaced the batteries in the remote?

I will be standing by, looking forward to your response.

Thank you,

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
just did
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 6 months ago.

Okay, after doing that, does the remote now work?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Jason, tried to call you but do not want to spend more Thanks for response
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
no, it did not
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 6 months ago.

A phone call will not be needed. In the past when the remote did work, would it light up at all on the remote?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Not tha I recall. There's a little red dot on the player itself
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Are you still able to work with me?
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 6 months ago.

If you press the buttons on the actual unit and bypass the remote, does it function correctly?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
no, cannot get theplayer itself to respond
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Is someone still responding?
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 6 months ago.

Thank you for the update. It sounds like the remote controller is not the problem here. The actual player is faulting.

If the player doesn't respond, it is time to replace the unit.

Does that make sense?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Unfortunately, that makes sense. My player's dead, too What do I try now? 81 yrs old no idea what's out there to replace DVD player.
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Jason has been a trouper. I'll just have to look around gotta go.

Thank you.

In short, you will have to go to the store and purchase a new dvd player.
