I have a Sony phonograph and it's set up correctly and only

Customer Question

I have a Sony phonograph and it's set up correctly and only hear a faint sound. Could that mean I need a new needle. I don't have an extra and I would like to play some LP's. Please advise.
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: I'll have to go check the back of it? It's an older one, but I don't remember how old.
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: A friend changed all my components today and checked all the wiring, etc. and everything seem to be in place. I put an LP on the correct setting as it plays 33 and 45 and that works ok, just a faint sound.
JA: Anything else you want the electronics expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: Hold on and I'll go check a number on the phonograph.

Hi and welcome to the site, I’m Louie. Sorry you had to wait awhile but I’ll do my best to help.

Initially, bear with us; re-confirm and post back with the complete model number of the "...Sony phonograph..." Additionally, is it connected to a stereo receiver or an amplifier? ...or is it a part of a system?
