Customer Question

Our ham club has a DR-1X operating on 2 meters and we have not updated the firmware since installation. We are having a problem with the analog audio breaking up while the digital operation seems to be doing fine. The cw id is not breaking up but rather the audio from the receiver that is being passed to the transmitter. Are there any firmware updates out that might fix the problem?
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: Yaesu DR-1x approximately 16 months in service
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: The problem has been going on for a few days. The only troubleshooting that I have done is to cycle the power off for a few minutes and back on with no effect on the analog audio breaking up
JA: Anything else you want the electronics expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: NO and thanks

Are there any other electronics around your antenna? How can you describe it as "breaking up"? Is there static? Does it go to complete silence?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
No Rusty. This is a combo digital and analog machine that needs a firmware upgrade. Thanks. No further help is needed
. Thanks for the response.
