my question is not worth $47
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: Panasonic model CT 27SF11S ;1994
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I would like to connect it to a TIVO ROMIO
JA: Anything else you want the electronics expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

Hi, I'm Nathan.
Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with this but I'll do my best to help you.

Are you connecting the main dvr (roamio) unit or the tivo mini box to this panasonic?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
secondary dvr (roamio) unit to this panasonic. the main dvr
(bolt) is connected to my bedroom TV.
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I contacted TIVO and the told me to use a breakout cable, (red, white, yellow) to the a/v connection on the TV, it didn't work!
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
excuse me! a/v connector on the Roamio
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
breakout cable(red, white, yellow) from the TV to a/v port on the roamio

Yes that is correct, you want to use the breakout cable, and it needs to be plugged into the AV (not component) port.

You also need to have then the red/white/yellow on the tv, and the tv needs to be set (using the tv/video or input button) set to the av/video input mode.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
there is no av/video mode on the TV remote. I can only get video 1 ,video 2 and channel 3 (snow only)

Which ports did you use? If you use video 1 ports for example, the red/white/yellow rca cables, then you set the input mode to video1

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
the breakout cable is plugged into the a/v port on the roamio
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I did that and all I got was a blue screen on either video 1 or video 2

Can you, temporarily, hook the roamio up to another (newer) tv, go into the settings menu, then set the output format on the tivo to 480p,

then back to the panasonic on the av breakout

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I will try. It might take a while!

No problem, take your time.

If no change, I'd like to have you try testing another device on the tv as well, like a dvd player or vcr, so we can make sure the av ports on the tv are even functional in the first place.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
no change. I tested my DVD. not working. Maybe like you say the ports are not working. The DVD player used to work. I haven't used it in a while.

I have an appointment, so I have to call it quits. Thanks for the help. Dave

HI Dave, sorry I missed you earlier.

You could hook the dvd to another tv to make sure it is working, but if the tivo works elsewhere too, and neither are working on the panasonic, that indicates a hardware fault in the panasonic.

Not at all surprising to see base on age, that tv is well over doulbe its service life at this point.

Do you have anything with a coax output on it (like an old cable box, vcr, etc)? If so, can you try that and see if you can get any signal through the panasonic on channel 3 or 4?

Do you need more help with this, Dave?
