Having trouble with my volume on my kindle can't hear anything just starting happening last nite. Unable to use the mayday since they can't hear me and I can't hear them. Please help.

Hello, and sorry you're having problems.

The problem you're having is often due to the software in the Kindle locking up and it needing to be rebooted. To do this, simply press and hold the power button on the Kindle for 40 FULL seconds, then release and wait a full minute for it to reboot (do no press anything else within that minute).
If this does not cure the issue, try that reset up to THREE TIMES and wait the full minute to see if it reboots.

If you're still running into problems, then try plugging the Kindle into the charger for 15 minutes, then eject it and try the reboot a couple of more times.

Lets try resetting your kindle; follow the steps below:

1) Please connect your Kindle to your charger.

2) Press and hold the Power button on the bottom of the device for about 40 seconds and then release the switch.

3) Please press and hold your kindle for atleast 40 seconds.If you only hold the Power button for only 10 to 20 seconds you'll just turn the unit OFF. So you have to hold the power button for atleast 40 seconds.

Tell me if it makes any difference to your problem.

Kindle's Speaker has gone bad and the only option left is to replace the speaker. For that you have to send it to Amazon because amazon directly supports and services the Kindle. You'll need to call them, and obtain an RA# ***** to sending it. In some cases Amazon will give a new unit at less cost.
