I bought a JVC KD-X33MBS digital receiver for the fairing in my motorcycle. My harness has black and red. do I connect red to yellow and black to red on the receiver or red to red and black to yellow?

Initially, the functions of the bike's colored wires would be dependent on the make and model as each manufacturer uses different color coding.

Still and for the JVC KD-X33MBS, the wiring (if have not been done) would be:

  • • yellow wire to an always available +12V source such as the battery's + terminal;
  • • red wire to a switched +12V source such as the ACC (accessory) terminal of the ignition switch;
  • or red and yellow wires tied together to a +12V source;
  • • the black wire connects to the bike's harness ground line and likewise to frame ground.
