I am considering buying a used Akai cassette deck model GX-75. It is from Europe and is designed for 220 Volts and 50Hz.
the seller maintains that a simple convertor from 120 to 240 volts will allow it to run properly.
Says, phase difference is not a problem. Please Advise

This is correct, any device can be converted with an adapter, its why they created the adapters so that electronic units can be used from other regions.
