Hello, and welcome!

Who is the manufacturer of your safe and what is the model number?

Is it a manual/dial safe or electronic?

Does the safe also require a key to use in conjunction with the combination?

What have you tried, so far?

Thanks for all your additional information and after you reply, please allow me a little time to compose and send your detailed answer.

Best wishes,

Hi, again.

I was hoping to hear back from you with some additional details, but I don't want you to wait for an answer, either. I will send my answer now, based on my experience, and with several options and if you still need help, just click 'Reply' and I will be glad to continue.

Typically, new safes come with a screw under the door that needs to be removed, so if you haven't done that, it may be the reason your door won't open.

I'm assuming your safe is made by Sentry, as the majority of our questions are about that brand.

If you have an electronic safe, I recommend installing new batteries (alkaline only) and then, trying your combo. Even if you just put in new batteries, try a different set and see if it helps. Make sure the handle is in the horizontal position before entering your combination. You will have to turn the handle down within 4 seconds of entering the last number of your combination. Do not allow more than 5 seconds in between combination number entries.

If your safe also came with a key to open, in conjunction with the combination, use the key first, to unlock, REMOVE the key and then enter your combination.

If your safe is manual/dial, if it has a 3 number combination, you may not be turning the dial in the correct sequence. Here are directions:

First, clear the dial by turning several times, gently, to the right or left.

A. Start the dial at zero.

B. Turn the dial to the left. Make sure ZERO
passes the pointer at least THREE times. Then stop
at the first number of your combination.

C. Turn the dial to the right. Stop the SECOND
time you reach the second number of your

D. Turn the dial to the left. Stop the FIRST
time the pointer reaches the third number of your

If you have a 4 number combination:

Turn the dial to zero.

Turn the dial to the left (counterclockwise) four times to the first number of the combination (pass the first number of your combination three times, stopping on it the fourth time).

Turn the dial to the right (clockwise) three times to the second number of the combination (pass your second number twice, stopping on it the third time).

Turn the dial to the left (counterclockwise) two times to the third number of the combination (pass the third number of your combination one time, stopping on it the second time).

Turn the dial to the right to the last number (stop the first time on your last number).

If you can provide some of the information I requested, originally, it could help, if your safe still doesn't open and if it's not made by Sentry.

Happy Holidays!
